In the Silence of the North Oy, in cooperation with HAWO, is presenting the Áilu Arctic Circle Suomu destination, which offers its owners perfect peace, pure nature, and effortless luxury. At the core of the project is the realization that in an increasingly hectic world, true luxury is silence.
Compared to many other large centers in Northern Finland, Suomutunturi has maintained its peace. For the entrepreneurs behind the project, who have long operated in the accommodation, restaurant, and construction sectors, Suomu has been familiar since 2019.
“The large centers in the North have their own clientele, but they are starting to get so full that you can hardly find real peace anymore. We are busy entrepreneurs ourselves, and what we truly enjoy is silence. Suomu is a somewhat hidden gem, whose untouched nature and Finland’s snowiest winters have started to attract Britons and Central Europeans in particular,” the entrepreneurs explain regarding the project’s origins.
This international trend and growing demand confirmed the decision to create a high-quality villa complex in the area, where Northern purity and natural elements are also visible in the name of each holiday home.
“In the delicate fell nature of Suomutunturi, running a traditional construction site for months would inevitably leave its mark on the terrain. When the HAWO villas are brought to Eastern Lapland completely factory-ready, the plot’s untouched nature and the silence of the Arctic Circle remain unbroken right from the start.”
For the busy entrepreneurs, Sanna and Mikael Rönnkvist, the effortlessness of the project was a lifeline. As long-time professionals, they knew exactly what traditional construction on a fell requires, and there were no resources to embark on that.
“When the villas are made at the factory and brought ready to the plot, it made the whole concept possible. It didn’t even cross our minds to get carpenters to build the destinations from scratch – it would not have been temporally possible. HAWO’s factory-ready concept was a decisive factor for us,” the entrepreneurs say.
HAWO’s customer-oriented and prompt service also receives praise. Planning and decision-making with HAWO’s expert Tuomas Holappa went seamlessly.
“As people of action, we appreciate that things move forward. Discussions with HAWO went brilliantly, and when something was decided, the project was quickly set rolling exactly on our desired schedule,” Sanna Rönnkvist says.
In the design of the Áilu villas, there was no desire to settle for basic models; instead, the destination was meant to be a genuine source of pride. The greatest attention is drawn to HAWO’s spectacular glass gable and the large windows in the living room and kitchen, which bring all the seasons into the atmosphere of the interior.
Special praise goes to the highly functional kitchen model, customized together with HAWO. The equipment level has also been taken far: each villa has a provision for an outdoor jacuzzi, and customers are offered ready-made furnishing packages exuding Northern quality in cooperation with Pentik and Veke.
Unlike many other densely built projects in fell centers, the absolute trump card of the Áilu villas is their own space. Each villa has its own large plot, which also has remaining building rights. The location is still first-class: the first plot is located only about 200 meters from the eastern slope’s lift.
The sales of the Áilu Arctic Circle Suomu destinations have started in cooperation with Habita. It is possible for customers to buy villas individually, and because these are privately owned plots, the project can be flexibly implemented even one house and plot at a time.
The target schedule is fast-paced: the assumption is that all villas will be in full use by the end of the current winter season.
